One to One Flint Knapping Workshops

Flint knapping workshops work best when they are kept small; the smaller, the better!

The science that lies behind the way a flint fractures is often masked by the inaccuracy of knappers, especially when they are at the beginner stage. It is important to know exactly what is happening to the material when blows are misplaced, and this is why one to one works so well with knapping, for even when accuracy and positive results are achieved, there still remains a need for interpretation.

You may bring up to three friends with you in order to share the day and the cost, but the resulting four to one, may slow your progress a little.

It is advisable to book courses for just one day at a time, as 8 hours of knapping can generate minor cuts, bruises and considerable fatigue.

Workshop Cost
Per Day £150

Courses aimed at primitive technologies other than flint knapping can be arranged, just talk to us about your requirements.

Courses are available to assist building contractors to deal with the restoration or production of architectural flintwork, the supply of raw material, and the correct use of traditional lime mortars.

This was my favourite shirt until I wore it for flint knapping!
